Air traffic surveillance is carried out by AFIS agents at St. Brieuc airport.  AFIS (Aerodrome Flight Information Service) is a flight surveillance system, providing flight information and alerts on aerodromes. The system is not authorized to give flight clearances, which can only be given by air traffic controllers.

The duties of an AFIS agent include :

       Ensuring flight safety on the aerodrome circuit ;

       Updating as necessary all air traffic regulations ;

       Monitoring the aeronautical infrastructure of the aerodrome ;

       Acting as the interface between the state authorities and the aerodrome managers.

An initial training course for AFIS agents is now provided by the Educational and Training Department of the Côtes d’Armor Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
